Our journey started in October 2023 with the InCube Challenge, a two-week-long innovation program organized by the ETH Entrepreneur Club where 25 students from all over the world work in groups of five to solve the world's most pressing challenges.
On the first week, all participants have the opportunity to get to know each other during intense days of team building activities together with workshops covering each and every aspect surrounding innovation, from the technological to the business perspectives.
During the second week, the actual challenges are disclosed and teams of five interdisciplinary students are each given a 5x5 squared meters cube to live, work and sleep. The cubes are set amidst public spaces in different locations all over the world, from Switzerland to China.
Our cube was sponsored by Roche and IQVIA, and was located just in front of Roche's headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Our challenge: how to increase treatment adherence for people living with Age-related Macular Disease (AMD) from the current 15% to 25%.
During five days, we had the opportunity to explore each and every aspect of the challenge, discussing with physicians, patient organizations, caregivers and people living with AMD to get highly valuable insights about the main pain points of the whole AMD community. After an intense experience of short sleep and long working hours, we succeeded to better define the problems surrounding the challenge and propose a holistic solution covering them.
The success of the solution ignited excitement among everyone involved, inspiring us to harness that momentum and take the opportunity to establish our own company and continue with the project.
